Heidelberg with Brad

I landed at Frankfurt International Airport at 7:30 AM local time, and Brad was there to meet me outside of customs.  He gave me a big hug and welcomed me to Germany.  He then led me through a HUGE airport parking garage system to his comfortingly familiar Dodge Dakota pick-up truck.

Once one the road — after passing thru the Ausfahrt of the parking garage — we drove south for 30 minutes to a temporary building near the gate of his Army base.  We used my passport and drivers license to acquire a photo ID that would allow me onto the base for the next few days.

Before heading to his house, we made a stop at Brad’s office so he could do a little work that would free him up for the rest of the weekend.  He showed me his office, and it was a real treat to see where he spends his time. He also showed me some of the amenities and evidence of the secret history of the building where he works.

After about an hour of work Brad took me to his house and gave me “the tour” and showed me to a room I could use for the duration of my visit. We didn’t stay long, though. Lee came home from work early and drove us all to Heidleberg.

What’s to eat in Germany

Here’s a photo of my dinner on my last night in Germany. It was a mushrooms-and-noodles affair from a restaurant called Fody. Mushrooms and Beef over Noodles
